8th Annual CARE Rockbridge MLK Community Parade
MONDAY, JANUARY 15, 2024 at 10:30 AM
Kick off will be at 10:30am from the United Methodist Church at 118 S. Randolph St.
All are invited to join in this family-friendly event celebrating our community’s commitment to dismantle racism in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Join us as we fill the streets with a call for justice, love, and equality. Help us spread the joy of inclusive community by bringing signs with messages supportive of CARE’s principles of equality, respect, and inclusion.
Signs must be made only of crushable materials (no wood or metal). CARE policy strictly prohibits weapons of any kind, as well as Confederate or white supremacist flags or symbols.
Plan to arrive early on Monday morning to leave time to find parking. Parking in Lexington is available in several city lots, as well as on the street downtown and in the surrounding neighborhoods. This parking guide shows the major public parking lots.
Temperatures in January can be chilly, so be sure to bundle up! Selection of CARE themed winter hats and scarves in the CARE Store. After the parade, we encourage you to visit one of Lexington’s many coffee shops and restaurants for a warm beverage and a snack.
As a reminder, the MLK Community Parade is a family-friendly, non-violent event. In that spirit, we request that participants maintain a policy of non-engagement with any protesters or others not involved in the parade.
