The 9th Annual CARE Rockbridge MLK Community Parade has been canceled due to unsafe walking surfaces.
We’ll look forward to seeing you at other area events and at the 2026 MLK Parade!
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: We at CARE are sorry to say we have canceled the 2025 CARE Rockbridge Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Parade. Ice from snow melt in roads not yet fully cleared seemed likely to freeze, especially near the gather area for step off. We agreed with the suggestion of local law enforcement that surfaces might be unsafe for participants.
Our Reading in Color children’s reading events held in collaboration with the Washington and Lee University MLK Birthday Party will still happen.
Ice roads notwithstanding, we still stand, always, against all forms of discrimination and for the joy of inclusive community.
